Your Space for Clarity, Understanding, and Development

I help people become the best version of themselves

Your life force is the energy that drives you to create, feel, and fully connect with the world. Positive affections, such as experiences of care, closeness, and recognition, are what nourish this energy.

Therapy is a way to begin this movement and allow your life to flourish more intensely and authentically. In our work, we look together at the unconscious scripts that shape your choices, your relationships, and your routine.

We identify patterns, clarify objectives, and create space for you to become who you want to be, with more presence, meaning, emotional health, and well-being in your daily life.

How it works

Psychotherapy is a space for speaking, listening, and processing. In the first conversation, we understand what brought you here, what issues are most present at this moment, and how the therapeutic process can make sense for you.

Throughout the meetings, we work with recurring patterns, conflicts that permeate their relationships, forms of suffering that they may not yet have found words for, and possibilities for change.

Sessions can be held in Portuguese or English. Frequency, arrangements, and service modality are determined based on your needs and availability.

Modality

Online, in Portuguese or English

Online therapy is the primary way to sustain an ongoing therapeutic process, including for people who live outside of Brazil, move to a different city, or have a routine that involves frequent travel.

The sessions take place via video call, in a confidential environment, and can be conducted in Portuguese or English: a key advantage for Brazilians abroad, bilingual individuals, foreigners, and intercultural relations.

In-person service in Florianópolis

For those in Florianópolis, in-person appointments are available at two locations: the office in Trindade or in the south of the island.

About me

I am Maria Vitória Burnier dos Santos, a psychologist (CRP 12/27479) graduated from UFSC with an emphasis in psychoanalysis. I'm originally from Porto Alegre, but I've also lived in Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro. Today I divide my time between Florianópolis – where I spend most of the year – and England.

My work is based on deep listening, respect for subjectivity, and the conviction that each symptom carries meaning within the history and relationships of each person.

I believe that the greatest human richness lies in the differences, nuances, and uniqueness of each individual—our subjectivity is what makes us unique, but often we feel that we are not fully heard or understood. The clinic is a space where this becomes possible.

Therapeutic approaches

My passion for Psychology stems from my unwavering curiosity about people: their quirks, subtleties, and layers. I believe that everyone deserves to live a good life, be happy, and become who they are destined to be.

To support my clients in this process, I use three integrated approaches from an assimilative perspective. This approach starts from a solid core theory, such as psychoanalysis, and selectively incorporates techniques from other approaches, adapting them to maintain theoretical coherence and clinical effectiveness.

In this way, I can personalize the treatment, enhance the therapeutic relationship, and create new perspectives on the individual, helping each client reconnect with their authenticity, empower their emotions, and build a fulfilling life aligned with their values.

Psychoanalysis

In psychoanalysis, I work from the understanding that a large part of our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors come from past experiences and internal conflicts of which we are not always conscious. This approach, created by Sigmund Freud, values deep listening, the exploration of dreams, free associations, and the therapeutic relationship. It allows me to help you perceive hidden emotional patterns, understand yourself better, and transform the way you relate to yourself and others.
